CLIMATE SCENARIO PLANNING
A new climate risk lens
Berkof's climate scenario planning services is a value-add capability for clients on top of the Berkof Assistant - our agentic solution for commercial real estate. The Berkof Assistant enables clients to autonomously run climate risk analysis on locations they are investing in. Six climate hazards are scored raw and then adjusted for engineered capacity, then tested across warming pathways, then converted into an estimated capital expenditure. Our climate scenario planning provides the context and narrative beyond the readiness adjusted climate risk score. We read the climate exposure, the physical defences and the institutional readiness of the locations your assets are located in. We test your portfolio against several climate futures. We then have the expertise to tell you what it will cost to hold this asset, over this period, if the climate does this.

For Berkof we know that most cities and districts know their strengths well enough. Fewer have a clear view of the distance between what they can already do and what they are going to need to do. As part of our readiness gap services we measure both and report the difference. Places build capability unevenly and Berkof's expertise magnifies the specificity of this unevenness. Berkof's adaptation strategy services assists places when they need to make difficult decisions about where to invest infrastructure budgets in the face of climate uncertainty and potential population growth. We use Berkof's climate analytics to prioritize infrastructure investments by their resilience value, and their capacity building impact. We also help places develop strategies for managing the social dimensions of rapid population inflow.
